Landscape Planning

Since the inception of the firm in 1962 Shankland Cox has consistently recognised the need to include landscape specialist in their planning and architectural work. Most of the large scale regional and urban planning studies completed by the firm include landscape analysis and design proposals as an integral part of plan and policy formulation.

Landscape Master Plans are typically formulated in sufficient detail to serve as a framework for short term actions. Wherever possible the firm makes recommendation for water efficient landscape proposals that take account of not only adjacent land uses but also existing and proposed development projects and engineering infrastructure that are likely to influence the proposals made.

The firm recognises the need to prepare plans and landscape designs capable of rapid and smooth implementation in the early stages of the planning process.

Landscape design undertaken by the firm includes the preparation of landscape analysis, concepts, design proposals and contract documents for new developments, tourism centres, conservation areas and residential complexes.
