Monorail Link,

Shankland Cox prepare monorail alignment plans and station proposals as the key transport components of the Financial District linking all districts within the development. Shankalnd Cox prepared patronage figures to support the operation with the objective that in the long term there will be a connectionto the proposed LRT at station 2. The monorail is one-way only and planned to operate in the clockwise direction.

 

Master Plan for the Region of Al Ain. UAE
Client: Emirate of Abu Dhabi


Shankland Cox were commissioned to undertake a comprehensive development plan which looks into all aspects of the development of the region for a period of 15 years. The Comprehensive plan consist of three elements: a Regional Strategy for the Eastern Region of Abu Dhabi Emirates, Urban Development Plans for Al AIn and local plans for priority areas Within the context of the strategy the Urban Development plans sets out the land use and policy framework for the orderly improvement, expansion and further development of the town and local plans translate into detail the principles of the urban development plans. A transport plan for Al Ain was prepared as part of the master plan development and served as the basis to proceed implementation of the city.

 

Kuching Urban and Regional Study
Client: Government of Malaysia and State of Sarawak


Shankland Cox was commissioned to prepare a long term strategic plan for the Kuching region of Sarawak and a detailed development plan for the Kuching urban area.

The project included economic and demographic projections, rural settlement, transportation and infrastructure studies. These basic studies formed the input to the strategic plan, which recommended that the expansion of Kuching should take place primarily to the north of the river Sarawak. The areas for expansion were subdivided into districts and neighbourhoods with associated facilities. A plan for traffic circulation and car parking was prepared. Urban conservation studies were completed and schemes for improving sanitation and alleviating of flooding were undertaken. An investment programme was prepared and proposals were made for organizational changes needed to improve the effectiveness of regional planning.
