Shankland Cox has participated in several economic studies aimed at identifying appropriate requirements for port, airport, logistics and industries in serval countres.

These have included studies which examined the location for industrial land, port container back up requirements, areas for special industries associated to the port and airport logistics facilities, air cargo facilities, proposed new projects and feasibility assessment.

Suvarnabhumi Aerotropolis Development Plan. Bangkok. Thailand
Client: National Economic and Social Development Board.

This project is dealt with the planning of development for the Suvarnabhumi aerotropolis which covers the area within 100Km, surrounding the Suvarnabhumi Airport east of Bangkok. Lantau Logistics Park Development –Feasibility Study, Hong Kong
Client: Civil Engineering and Development Department.

Following a study on the competitive Strategy and Master Plan to strengthen Hong Kong's role as the preferred international and regional transportation and logistics hub, Lantau Island was selected as the preferred location for a major Logistics Park development. Shankland Cox was commissioned to carry out the preparation of an Outline Development Plan and engineering feasibility for a 120 Ha site in this area.

The major objective for the development was to provide an attractive site for the location of a variety of logistics services in close proximity to each other and to the airport. In order to foster logistics services integration, the project must embrace the full range of logistics services from conventional transportation and freight forwarding activities to value added services including labeling, merge-in-transit, manufacturing support, order taking, pick and pack, repair, special packaging and sub-assembly.
